An entrepreneur at heart, I have been a professor, a writer, many times a group leader. As an entrepreneur, I founded TeraDeep and FWDNXT. FWDNXT was acquired by Micron Inc. in 2019 for our pioneering work on deep neural network processors. As a writer, I have co-authored 3 books and more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. I follow the development of the tech world and focus on the ripples rather than the bubbles. I focus on new applications of artificial intelligence that can forward humanity. As a university professor at Yale and Purdue I have worked on Intelligent Vision Systems, Biomedical Circuits and Systems, Silicon-on-Sapphire Circuits and Systems. My PhD from Johns Hopkins University was on the topic of analog and mixed-signal microchip design for neuromorphic applications. I was one of the pioneers in spike-based imaging. My Bio is here, my CV is here. My recent work is focused on the creation of an artificial scientist using multi-modal large world models (LWM). #LLM #AI #DeepLearning #MachineLearning
I am one of the pioneers in deep learning and neural networks, with more than 20 years of experience. I have worked on convolutional neural networks for vision, on LSTM and Transformers for vision, speech, text, NLP, on reinforcement learning for robotics, on AI for 3D and graphics, to name a few.
I am one of the de-facto leaders in hardware processors and accelerators for deep learning. I pioneered the design and developement of 5 generations of deep learning processor and accelerators from 2004-present.
I worked for more than 20 years on the design, fabrication, testing and characterization of silicon devices and circuits and systems for biomedical applications, neuromorphic engineering, silicon-on-insulator and silicon-on-sapphire.
